Parish Claims Warnock Is a Safe Pair Of Hands

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has claimed that the club’s new manager Neil Warnock is a safe pair of hands and that the club can look forward to staying in the Premier league under his regime. Warnock was appointed as the Crystal Palace manager for the second time in his career. He will be taking over from Tony Pulis, who left the job just a few days before the start of the new season. The 65-year-old previously managed the club for a period of three years between 2007 and 2010 before joining QPR.

Warnock has previously managed clubs in the Premier League, but he has so far been unable to keep them in the division. This will be a chance to prove his doubters wrong, as Crystal Palace are once again expected to be in the midst of relegation trouble. Pulis did a great job to get the club player of relegation trouble and almost in top four qualification form last season. The good work done by him during pre-season will go a long way towards helping Warnock settle immediately to the club. After back-to-back defeats in the opening two matches, Crystal Palace go to St James’s Park in order to take on Newcastle United.

Their next few matches look winnable with the likes of Leicester City and Burnley as their opponents.

“It’s not so much about being relieved, it’s about being happy that we’ve found the right person. I’ve known Neil since the club went into administration. He’s someone who’s always been helpful to me and offered advice and I think he’s a safe pair of hands for us right now. He’s got unfinished business in the Premier League. As we all know he went down with 38 points, which would have kept you up last year, and in unfortunate circumstances with Sheffield (United in 2007),” said Parish.

Ipswich Town Signs Midfielder Williams

Crystal palace ace midfield Jonathan Williams was signed in by Ipswich Town today, on a month long loan. This twenty something international football player from Wales has been part of nine Premier League matches for Crystal palace. It was earlier reported by current Ipswich Town and ex Eagles defender David Wright that adding Williams to the Ipswich team will sure be an add on to their asset. Wright also added that not only is he an ace defender but he knows his game as well by finding tricky pocket spaces between lines pretty well.

The Ipswich defender also praised William’s intelligence by saying that he can easily pick up the ball and break lines with much ease. He also gets easily at back four courtesy a real great burst on him. Assured by this deal, Wright seemed quite pleased about this signing this young lad from Wales. Talking about his stature, Wright commented that however this 20 year old young man is pretty small, but his strength, speed and technique has highly impressed him.

Young Williams chirps saying that he still can remember the glorious feeling when he signed his first deal, way back when he was only seventeen and it felt marvelous doing so. He added that he feels privileged to play for Crystal Palace and its better since they are playing in the championship.

The Welsh defender has in total made sixty four appearances for Crystal Palace, and can play through middle or out wide. His debut match was in the year 2011 and since then there was no turning back for this young defender. At the moment Ipswich Town holds the tenth position in the tournament, an approximate five points behind the last playing off team, the Reading. Losing to the champion Leicester City during their last game, was Ipswich’s first defeat in last six matches.

FIGHTING CHANCE

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis says that the team has given themselves a fighting chance to avoid relegation this season after a 1-0 win over his former club Stoke City. Despite this result, Pulis says that the relegation worries still haunt the club and he will be looking to buy some players in January in order to strengthen the team. Pulis came up against his former club Stoke last weekend. This is the first time he is coming up against Stoke since leaving the club back in the summer. Despite being in the relegation zone prior to the match, the home team managed a spectacular 1-0 win over Stoke.

This helped them to move up several places in the table. Despite this, they still remain just two points outside the drop zone. Puncheon scored the only goal of the game in the second half to give Crystal Palace massive three points. The club was bottom of the table when Pulis replaced Ian Holloway several weeks ago, but they are now in a slightly comfortable position. Pulis has acknowledged it and has said that the club had almost no chance of survival during Christmas, but this victory has changed the outlook.

Palace will now look towards reaching the 40 point tally and they are halfway towards achieving it.

“We’ve given ourselves a chance. We weren’t in the game when I came. Now we’re in the game,” said Pulis. “January is just a very difficult market. We make the offers that we think are fair offers for the players. I’m not moaning about it. People want to get the best value for their football club. It’s life,” said club chairman Parish about the transfer activity of the club in the next seven days of the transfer window. The club’s next match will be against Wigan in the FA Cup.

PULIS TRACKS HUDSON

The new manager of Crystal Palace, Tony Pulis, has Mark Hudson on his radar and he is likely to place a bid for him this January. The 55 years old Welshman has recently taken charge at the Selhurst Park and he is believed to be given some bucks to buy the players during the mid-season transfer window.

Hudson is the skipper of the Premier League club Cardiff City at the moment, but, he hasn’t got that much playing time there in the ongoing season. It’s Steven Caulker who has been preferred ahead of him.

Tony Pulis is looking to take advantage of Hudson’s situation at Cardiff. However, it’s not clear yet whether the Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay also wants to part ways with the veteran English defender.

Hudson has played for Crystal Palace in the past as well. He had been a part of the Eagles’ squad from 2004 to 2008. During that period, he made more than 100 appearances for them.

Meanwhile, Pulis who will be making his debut as the Crystal Palace manager against Norwich City on Saturday, caught up with his players yesterday. That was his first meeting with his players and he looked happy after that.

Talking to the reporters, the former Stoke manager said, “I know it will be difficult, but, the good thing for us is that we are not carrying the burden of expectations. Nobody is expecting us to survive in the league.”

“I saw the guys playing yesterday against Hull and I must say I was impressed by their energy level.”

“I have got no doubt in my mind that this team is capable of surviving.”

Crystal Palace is presently at the second last position in the League points table with 7 points in 12 games.

POOR RUN

Crystal Palace are in a poor run of form, which sees the club just one place above the bottom of the table. They have had just one victory in the league so far, but manager Ian Holloway has said that he is remaining positive about the chances of the club being in the Premier league next season. There are a lot of rumours about the future of Holloway, but co-chairman Steve Parrish have come in support of the former Blackpool man by saying that he will keep them in the Premier league. Holloway has the experience of managing a club for just one season in the Premier league.

He was relegated with Blackpool after just 12 months in the top division. The club had a very difficult summer during which they failed to get most of their transfer targets, but Holloway has been very positive in his approach. Goals are a huge problem for the club, who have failed to score in the last three matches. It does not get any easier for Holloway because his team will be facing the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal in the next three matches. Crystal Palace brought in as much as 15 players in the summer, but they are yet to make an impact.

“I believe in the manager and I believe in his ability to create a winning team. I’ve got every faith in Ian to sort it out. There are a lot of new players and we’re trying to find both a formation and a way of playing. We didn’t get what we deserved in the first few games and that puts us where we are. But we’ve got to keep believing. I know we’re good enough to stay in this league. We’ve just got to pull together and get some results,” said Steve Parrish.

MAMMOTH TASK

Crystal Palace were one of the teams promoted into the top flight last season. However, they were immediately faced with the huge task of strengthening the team after having come through the play-offs. This is usually very tough for club because they have limited time to close the deals. Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has been reflecting on a very poor week for him because the club has not been able to bring in any new faces. Holloway has already experienced relegation from the Premier league only recently from his time at Blackpool.

Immediately after promotion, he has said that he will not be making the same mistakes again. However, Holloway has found it extremely hard to attract players to the club. Even when he manages to get players consider coming to Selhurst Park, there have been several close misses along the way. The club was recently defeated 3-0 by lower league Crawley Town, which has put a lot of doubts in the minds of the fans. After this match, Holloway has urged the board to act quickly and bring in quality players.

The loss of Zaha will also be huge for the club. The winger was sold to Manchester United for around £ 15 million, but they are yet to replace him.

“Myself and the chairman are going to sit down and have a look at the targets we have shot at, and go from a scattergun approach to the rifle. We have got to knock some targets over. Now we have found out what it might cost us, where we are going, I’m sure if he was here today he wouldn’t have been too happy with that either. We have got to hone down some targets,” said Holloway.

The opening match of the season will see Crystal Palace play against Tottenham at home.
