Port Vale goal keeper Scott Brown has praised his team’s brilliance following their 1-0 victory over Bury FC.
In their previous league game, the Valiants had been humiliated 6-2 by Lincoln. Therefore, a victory against one of the best sides in the league was very much welcome.
Thanks to a Tom Pope’s effort in the 51st minute, Port Vale were able to triumph over in-form Bury who are currently seeking promotion. Now, Port Vale will resume action as they go back to Burslem.
While Bury FC possessed the Valiants, the scoreline could have been 2-0 but Ben Whitfield was denied. Moments before, Nicky Maynard almost equalized for Bury, but Brown made an excellent save to deny the visitors an equaliser.
The netminder said the occasion was special as he thanked the fans for their faith following the 6-2 defeat which still haunts the team. Brown hoped the team is now doing enough to repay the fans’ faith in them.
In a match where Bury was unarguably the better side in the first half, the Vale came back stronger in the second half to record the all-important win almost immediately after the break in the 51st minute.
Brown went further to mention just how much could change in two weeks. The team was literally in shambles after letting in six goals in a single match. Two weeks after that defeat, they have recorded three wins, one draw, and no defeat.
Additionally, Port Vale have kept three consecutive clean sheets. But, Brown wasn’t having any of that. His mind is set on Saturday.
